Of Amerindian and Hawaiian origin, hot stone massage or "stone therapy" is a massage technique using basalt stones of volcanic origin. Once heated, these stones provide a feeling of well-being and have different therapeutic properties.

The power of basalt stones

Basalt stones are real volcanic stones made of pure lava. They are very smooth, contain high levels of iron and store heat for up to 45 minutes.

To warm them up, the massage stones are immersed in water with a temperature ranging from 50 to 65 degrees. The hot stones are then placed on sensitive or painful areas of the body such as the stomach, back, hands, feet and forehead. The heat radiates the body and allows you to relax completely.

In some spas and thalassotherapy centres, cold marble stones are also used. By alternating hot and cold stones, the body can benefit from the benefits of thermotherapy.

The course of the session

At the beginning of the session, the therapist starts by applying a relaxing and relaxing essential oil on the back. This part of the body is massaged manually and then with the previously heated rollers. Throughout the session, the hot stones will be used to massage, caress, press and knead specific areas of the body. The feet and legs are also massaged by the therapist with a warm massage oil.

After touching and rubbing the body, the therapist places hot stones on the spine, in the palms of the hands and between the toes. Under the effect of heat, these energy points are stimulated and released. Once lying on your back, the same ritual can be performed on other parts of your body.
